Profile
I want to welcome you to my agency. I think it is important that you know a little bit about the person you are or may be doing business with. I would like to take this opportunity to give some background and history about my agency and myself.
I started in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry in June of 1992 with Horace Mann Educators Insurance. I spent from 1992 to 1999 as an employee agent, leaving as an Account Executive and Supervising agent. During that time, I worked in many different Front Range School Districts
helping educators and their families with their insurance needs. In December of 1999 I started with Allstate Insurance Company, also as an employee agent. In July of 2001 I became an Agency Owner, forming Counterman Insurance Incorporated. I was with Allstate Insurance as an Agency Owner for just short of 21 years. In July of 2020, a year to remember, I opened my own Independent Insurance Brokerage through TAG Insurance Services, representing insurance companies such as Travelers, Safeco, Progressive, Nationwide, The Hartford, and may others. A true way to give my clients choices.
My background in the industry is extensive. I have been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors for over 20 years. NAIFA is the Largest and Oldest Insurance Producer Represented Advocacy Organization in the United States. The 130-year-old organization advocates for consumer insurance and financial services products through State and Federal legislation. I have lobbied in Washington DC 12 times. I have served the organization as State President, Secretary, Treasurer, and National Committeeperson, as well as many other non-Board of Director related positions. I am also a past President of NAIFA Centennial, which was my Local Association at the time. In 2004 I graduated from the Leadership in Life Institute, a leadership program through NAIFA. I then served two years as a LILI Moderator, as well as the NAIFA-Colorado State LILI Chair. I also serve three years on NAIFA’s National LILI Sub-Committee. In 2004 I also received my Life Underwriters Training Council Fellowship Designation, which is an Industry Designation that includes 300 hours of continuing education. Individuals that hold the LUTCF® designation have completed a program of study that includes 3 separate courses that focus on practice management, life insurance, insurance products, investment products, and risk management. Additionally, individuals must pass end-of-course examinations at the end of each course which test their ability to synthesize complex concepts and apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.
I am also very involved in my community. I have served on Council at St. Philip Lutheran (ELCA) Church in the Littleton/Columbine area. I have also served as the Men’s Fellowship Coordinator, Campus Ministries and on the Personnel Committee, as well as being involved in much of the music played at the Church. I was a Music Performance Major in College. I have been a professional performing and studio musician in the Denver area since the late 1970’s (Saxophone). I have my own Foundation called The Jazz Hands Foundation Band that gives time and talent to raise money for various non-Profits in the Denver Metro Area. I am also a member of the Columbine Kiwanis. I have done work for the Action Center in Lakewood, Integrated Family Community Services, Now I lay Me Down to Sleep, and the Foothills CROP Walk for Hunger, and many more. My Wife Sue and I are also heavily involved in the Seeds of South Sudan. Seeds of South Sudan rescues refugee orphans from the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya so they can receive an education in Kenyan boarding schools. My Wife Sue, a Master Teacher at Colorado Academy, has been on the Board of Directors of SOSS for over 10 years, and has been to the refugee camp in Kenya twice in the last 5 years. I am a Member of the Littleton Business Chamber, South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, and I have been a member and serviced in 3 of the Metro Denver Realtor Boards.
I am a true believer in giving back to the community and I look forward to serving you and your family.
Truly,
Brian Dee Counterman, LUTCF
